Come and join us for a day helping our fellow Aucklanders who are most in need of support at the Auckland City Mission. We received feedback that our club members would like to do more community activities as part of fellowship , so here is a great opportunity to help out for a day at the Auckland City Mission. We need 15 people for this event - friends and family welcome. There is no cost involved - we just need your time and helping hands. If this event proves to be popular, I am more than happy to arrange subsequent visits on a regular basis. The volunteers will be involved in a selection of the following activities, based on what is most needed by the City Mission at the time: - packing food parcels (including restacking and labelling food) - sorting and organizing food/goods/bric a brac/clothing - general tidying (cleaning, sweeping, mopping). You will need to arrange your own transport and/or parking. We can all go for our lunch break together at a lovely cafe nearby. Please let me know if you have any questions. Kat Trevor, on behalf of your friendly Fellowship Committee.

Interview with District Governor Ingrid Waugh about Keeping Rotary Real
Aug 28, 2018
Interview by Stuart Rowe in “Downtown Talkshow” Ingrid was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Parnell in 1994, and has since held several positions including President in 2005-06. She has also been Assistant Governor and has held the positions of District Trainer and Rotary Leadership Institute Chair in District 9920 for the last four years. Ingrid recently retired from a twenty plus year career in human resources and organisational development, where she developed her passion for developing leadership capability and working with individuals and teams to help them reach their potential. During her professional career she worked in a range of organisations from being a self employed consultant to Talent Manager for a large New Zealand owned engineering consultancy. Having also lived and worked in a number of countries as she supported her husband John’s international trade career, she has a particular interest in living and working across cultures and dealing with change. Ingrid has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Psychology and Education, and a Diploma in Teaching. Ingrid’s interest in community has also extended to being a past trustee of Auckland Communities Foundation (now Auckland Foundation). Ingrid is married to John, who spent his working life with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and was more latterly Director of Trade and Honorary Consul General for the United Kingdom in Auckland. They have two children who were born in Athens, Greece and now live in Auckland – Olivia (married to Jesper) and Simon (married to Jennifer), and four delightful grandsons. Ingrid and John live on a lifestyle block in Miranda one hour south of Auckland, where they also ran a boutique lodge until a couple of years ago. They have a large garden, a lot of native bush (but no animals so they can indulge their love of travel), and enjoy entertaining. |
