Timothy Orr - RCDA President 2024-2025
Tim Orr has a passion for service to the community and a long-standing interest in the role of justice and equity.  A Downtown Auckland Rotary Club member since 2014, Tim has participated in a wide variety of service projects including organising and packing Emergency Response Kits for the Pacific Islands, tree planting in Hauraki Gulf, assisting in the Model United Nations Assembly school competitions, presenting at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and as a panel member on Battle of the Suits.
 
Tim says: “We have an opportunity to leverage the well-recognised Rotary brand, further energise the Club and attract business leaders who are like minded with a passion for service and creating an equitable society both here in New Zealand and further afield.”

Trees For Survival
Trees For Survival
Our environmental team, Dan, Simon, Elaine and Mark headed out to Clevedon to help Remuera Intermediate plant out the seedlings they have nurtured over the last 12 months. Trees for Survival is a charitable trust that works with 150 schools and local communities across New Zealand to grow and plant native trees along waterways and on erosion prone hillsides.  https://www.tfsnz.org.nz

Gardens in Schools
The ‘Gardens in Schools’ team led by Greg Moyle has completed a new garden at Grey Lynn Primary School. (They wore masks, stayed 2m apart and there was plenty of breeze). The gardens look great and the signage provides good promotion for Downtown Rotary.  We send a huge thank you to the team - who just get on with things and we're very lucky to have them.
 
 
Donation of books
Donation of books
Elaine Ebbett and Frankie Crellin have been busy over the last few months delivering books to Edmund Hillary Primary School and to the spinal unit in South Auckland.
 
Elaine sources the books from friends and libraries and enjoys being able to provide books to children who would otherwise never have a book in their home.
 
The latest delivery to Edmund Hillary Primary School was welcomed with open arms as it was just in time for this years prize giving.
 
If anyone has access to books that Elaine could use in this way please let her know.
