Well it's quite thrilling to be sending out the invitation to our Downtown Rotary Christmas Party! This year it will be held at at the West End Bowling Club, off Hamilton Road in Herne Bay. There will be a light meal, cash bar and lawn bowls tips 'n tricks for us all to enjoy together - as well as each other’s company for the first time in a long while! All this for the bargain price of $60 per person. Please join us and register for friends and family, as you wish. There is parking available on surrounding side streets. As per the government regulations under the Covid Protection Framework any attendees, who are eligible to be double vaccinated against Covid-19, must be double vaccinated to attend this event. Please note, this obviously doesn't apply to under 12s who are not yet eligible for the vaccine. The Bowling Club has assured us that their staff are double vaccinated. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to Kat or Christine. please not this event will be capped at 65 people. We hope to see you there.

Dame Judith Potter served as a High Court Judge for 15 years, retiring in 2012. From 2001 she was also a Judge of the Civil and Criminal divisions of the Court of Appeal. Since retirement she has been a Judge on the Pitcairn Islands and Tuvalu Courts of Appeal and continues as a Judge of the Cook Islands High Court. Before appointment as a judge, she was a partner in the firm of Kensington Swan, specialising in commercial law and trusts. |

Tim’s background is within both the health and philanthropic sector, having worked across research, health services and partnership approaches to improving health outcomes for communities in the UK and in NZ. Tim joined Well Foundation from (Rotary founded) Cure Kids NZ and Cure Kids Fiji, where he headed up a $10m child health research programme including an enhanced national rheumatic heart disease control and prevention programme in Fiji. After completing a degree in Economics at Victoria University, Viv has had a diverse career spanning the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She has held governance positions, senior roles in large companies, led a medium-sized design, print and logistics agency, and also been involved with start-ups. As Chief Executive of Heart of the City, she has worked constructively with the Auckland Council group and also challenged poor performance. She has played a key role in standing up for businesses impacted by City Rail Link construction and has worked collaboratively with business and sector groups, government and social agencies to support Auckland businesses and recovery from the pandemic. Synopsis of Talk Viv will talk about why she is standing for Mayor, her key priorities and what she brings to the role. |
