“I didn’t know that! – curious aspects of Wellington history”

Mary O’Keeffe has been lurking round the edges of Wellington’s history for 26 years as an archaeologist.  She runs her own consultancy, and in her work she has uncovered curious stories, interesting aspects and notable novelties of the history of our capital city.  This light-hearted illustrated talk looks at some of these curiosities.

Mary has an undergraduate degree from Otago University and a Master’s degree from Auckland University.  She is on the Social Sciences and Humanities Panel of the Royal Society, is a member and past President of ICOMOS New Zealand, has undertaken World Heritage expert missions for UNESCO, is an Expert Witness for the Environment Court, is the Patron of the Maritime Archaeological Association of New Zealand, was on the Board of the Katherine Mansfield Birthplace, has sat on the Wellington Conservation Board, and occasionally delivers university lectures
