“Communication: The biggest problem with new health & safety regulation”
Public Speaking is said to be the third scariest thing to do – but Annette loves to talk! She is a long-standing Toastmaster and is a DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster), has a Communication Degree, and studied Psychology and Counselling. She now applies these skills in the workplace.
Annette is an expert in the mine-field of communication. For 20 years she has researched and evolved unique or advanced speech and communication programs through her company, Talk-the-Talk. This has been particularly aimed at clients who would rather face the IRD or the dentist than give a speech or where the word “communication” is classed as an expletive!
Annette has identified that complying with the new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 now requires many levels of commitment from the PCBU [Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking!] towards better relationship building. She will look at the practical processes of how to overcome the crucial layers of attitudes, behaviours, developing and delivering critical messages, giving feed-back, and other obvious communicating gaps.
Annette will give insight to this vexed topic and even a couple of her innovative ideas to help companies insure themselves against the potential of harmful practices, injury and loss of life - not to mention those heavy penalties for non-compliance or negligence.
