Our Quiz Night raises vital funds for Projects in the Pacific
Congratulations to the International Committee for another great quiz night. The event raised more than $3K! This will support community projects in Fiji including the Hope Centre that provides prosthetics and disability support throughout Fiji. The committee thanks everyone who attended, sponsors and volunteers - without them this event would not have been such a success.
Club members will be visiting the Hope Centre later this month and also meeting with other Rotary Clubs & community projects in Fiji. There's still time to join - if you're interested, please contact Dee, our committee chair.

in 2024, at the age of 73, Rotarian Dennis Millard decided to ride the 3000kms Tour Aotearoa. He travelled from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South and in doing so, raised vital funds for Parkinsons New Zealand.
What better excuse to get up on a Tuesday morning and hear about Dennis's adventures. You might even get inspired to do the journey yourself!

On Wednesday 22 April at 7.30am, we are meeting in Downtown Square (by McDonalds) to clean up for an hour around the square and ferry buildings before having a well deserved coffee/tea in Commercial Bay. Bring gloves and 1-2 big rubbish bags. Let Suzanne know if you need a Rotary hi-viz vest
The Youth Committee & New World Eastridge are running a raffle with a prize of a grab from the supermarket shelves! All funds raised will support our youth activities including RYLA & RYPEN. 2,500 $10 tickets are being sold and Andre, our Youth Committee Chair, is looking for YOUR help to do this.
Our club is once again coordinating Auckland's "MUNA" (Model United Nationals Assembly). It will be on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May with Thursday a big set up day. Volunteers are needed for all 3 days. Read more about MUNA from a student's point of view HERE and click below to volunteer
Our club has built amazing vegetable gardens in schools for years, thanks to the vision and commitment of Greg Moyle. Our Environment Committee is currently checking 13 schools where we have programmes in place and also planning for two new schools. If you like getting your hands dirty and wearing gumboots, look out for the working bees coming up
Look out for news soon from Pam Deal on a fundraiser in May with Repertoire Milford to support the work of the Environment Committee. This fashion show has been a popular success in the past - and you get a great discount on anything you buy at the event too!
Did you know that without the financial support of our club, there is a real possibility that there would be no Cerebral Palsy therapists in NZ? After a gap of over a decade, our funding now provides ongoing training of "Bobath" tutors through the NZ Bobath Association (NZBA) who then teach therapists to work with adults and children. Wow! Well done to Kenneth Winstone and all those supporting this worthy cause.

With everyone doing their bit, we will attract new members, showcase our impact and strengthen our presence in the community. This can be easily achieved through social media channels.

Focus on the platform that has the best impact for you, including LinkedIn and Facebook.
Write a short caption that includes what has been done, who we’ve helped and why it matters.
Visual photos are really important. Bright, clear photos that show members in action capture attention.
Join the Downtown Rotary Club social media channels - Facebook and LinkedIn, so you can like or share stories to your own networks.
Promote events in advance and share updates in the lead up to the event.
Then, after the event, follow up with photos and a short story.
