Welcome to a new Rotary year!
Just like that, it's the start of our new Rotary year! We stuck to tradition with a get together at the end of June, to celebrate the last 12 months and start planning for the next. Members, family and friends gathered at Cafe Du Marche, a lively cafe with a relaxed vibe. Nothing relaxing though about our incoming president's plans for the year - David is hitting the ground running and keen for us all to grab the opportunities that Rotary to “feel good, doing good”
This year, for the first time, Rotary will no longer use an annual theme with a custom logo., Instead. clubs globally will use the core “Create Lasting Impact” message.
The focus for the year is to move from simple change to sustainable, long term results and to share this with powerful stories. Sounds good doesn't it?

We have weekend passes for The Auckland Art Show
Yes, that's right! The first 20 club members to RSVP will receive a COMPLIMENTARY weekend pass for 2 adults to enjoy the Art Show on 1-2 August at the Viaduct Events Centre.

We kick off next month with Travis Murdoch as our guest speaker. Travis is Head of Fixed Income & Portfolio Manager (NZ) for Pie Funds, a boutique NZ-owned Kiwisaver, investment fund & wealth manager. The team pride themselves on their personalised service and taking the tie to learn about your goals & values - something lost too often in the fast paced world of finance.
We've received a great report from our club member Laura Goulden on the most recent RYPEN programme held at the Hunua Falls Camp.
This Rotary led weekend long leadership camp for 14-17 year olds is a global initiative providing adventure based learning with motivational seminars to build confidence, team-work and life skills.
Thanks to Laura, Downtown Auckland is very committed & RYPEN is a major Youth Committee project. We fund students chosen by Auckland Girls Grammar and De La Salle College - but Laura is there boots & all as a volunteer to ensure students are safe while taking on their challenges.
The incoming Youth Committee will be fundraising & planning for the next RYPEN later this year.
