The Ups and Downs of a Travel Agent

Vern Walker was employed by Thomas Cook Travel from 1958 until 1998.

At the end of his career with Thomas Cook Travel, he was the Manager of Groups and Conventions for 38 offices. This required formulating tours for Kiwis travelling overseas with a common interest.

 

 

 In the 1960s he was an internationally ranked distance runner, often chasing the likes of Murray Halberg and Peter Snell.

 

 

 He last spoke with us a few years back about the book he authored titled "Peter Snell and the Kiwis who flew."
