2018 Inquiry into Mental Health

Professor Ron Paterson recently led a major Government Inquiry into Mental Health & Addiction. He will address the club on this Inquiry and its findings and Recommendations. 

He is Professor of Law at Auckland University and a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Melbourne University. He was Deputy Director-General of Health in 1999-2000 then Health & Disability Commissioner for 10 years till 2010 when he Chaired the Banking Ombudsman Scheme for 3 years. Subsequently he was Parliamentary Ombudsman 2013-2016 and is now Chair of the New Zealand Centre for Human Rights.  He is a Barrister and Solicitor, a USA trained Mediator and is an Honorary Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians. He was awarded an ONZM in 2011.
