Dan first became interested in Rotary after a close friend working overseas shared their own rewarding experiences as a Rotarian. Inspired by Rotary’s global ethos of service and fellowship, he joined Downtown Auckland Rotary Club.
Within the Club, Dan has played a leading role in environmental initiatives, particularly through chairing the Environment Committee and coordinating tree planting days in partnership with Trees for Survival and local schools. His hands-on approach and commitment to sustainability reflect the spirit of practical action that defines Rotary’s service work.
Looking ahead, Dan says: “My aspiration is to strengthening member engagement and continue to welcome new members. We have a fine spirit in Downtown Auckland Rotary Club. We achieve a great deal, and visitors often remark on the energy and camaraderie within our Club.”
Outside of Rotary, Dan works in risk management at Westpac Bank and has previously contributed to two small organisations supporting refugees. He is also an enthusiastic traveller and enjoys the outdoors — often found exploring New Zealand’s trails with an informal walking group, whether trekking the Waitakere Ranges, the Tongariro Crossing, or Arthur’s Pass.
Originally born in New York City, Dan moved to New Zealand with his family at the age of five and has called Aotearoa home ever since. His global outlook and community-minded leadership will continue to guide the Club as it enters a new chapter of growth and service under his presidency.
