Tim Orr has a passion for service to the community and a long-standing interest in the role of justice and equity. A Downtown Auckland Rotary Club member since 2014, Tim has participated in a wide variety of service projects including organising and packing Emergency Response Kits for the Pacific Islands, tree planting in Hauraki Gulf, assisting in the Model United Nations Assembly school competitions, presenting at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and as a panel member on Battle of the Suits.
Tim says: “We have an opportunity to leverage the well-recognised Rotary brand, further energise the Club and attract business leaders who are like minded with a passion for service and creating an equitable society both here in New Zealand and further afield.”

Tim, a Partner at law firm Martelli McKegg, specialises in trusts, asset and estate planning. Tim is also a long serving Board Member, former Chair and current Deputy Chair of the Auckland Restorative Justice Trust. Tim has also worked at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and led a legal aid team working in prisons and police stations in Kenya for almost a year.
Tim comes from a service focused family in rural Northern Ireland, attending events with Rotary and a wide range of other community organisations when he was younger. He has seen the evolution of Rotary and believes now is the right time to broaden the Downtown Auckland Rotary Club’s membership and impact.
Tim says: “We have an opportunity to leverage the well-recognised Rotary brand, further energise the Club and attract business leaders who are like minded with a passion for service and creating an equitable society both here in New Zealand and further afield.”
In the year ahead, Tim is focussed on creating a culture of belonging and inclusion, where people can be themselves, respected, supported and valued. In his view, the Downtown Auckland Rotary Club is well positioned as a place where people can unite, connect with the community and find a balance between continuity and change.
Tim, from Northern Ireland and his wife Mairi, from Scotland, moved to New Zealand in 2010 and have two children. Outside of work Tim is happiest spending time with his family. He also serves others as an active member of sporting, community and church organisations.
