On Tuesday, we were joined by the leadership from Auckland City Mission for us to officially present our $55,000 donation toward their HomeGround Project.
We were joined by Chris Farrelly - Auckland City Mission CEO, Mandy Mee - HomeGround Campaign Manager, and The Hon Justice Lyn Stevens of the Court of Appeal & HomeGround Campaign Executive.
Chris Farrelly spoke on behalf of the City Mission in accepting the donation and he underscored the important work which the funds will be used for. Chris also recapped how much he enjoyed our fundraiser event for this donation, Battle of the Suits, showing that you can have fun and make an impact at the same time.
The great support from the event title sponsor, Milford Asset Management, is also again highlighted as they made a significant financial contribution, and were great supporters on the night of Battle of the Suits.
It was also another great opportunity to thank the Battle of the Suits team for putting together this great fundraiser: Gill Johnston, David Graham, Christine Fenby and Mark Jenkins. A special thanks as well to all club members who donated auction items for the event.
Other event sponsors which we would also like to acknowledge and thank include Ellen & Company, McDonalds, Benefitz, Cordis Hotel and Encore Event Technologies.
And of course, the event would not have happened without our great debate teams: Sir John Key, David Downs, Tom Scott, Katherine Anderson, Kathryn Beck and Michael Timmins.
We've been lucky to have Ed and Lynn Reeder visit us from the Rotary Club of Lombard, Illinois.
Ed and Lynn joined us at our recent Melbourne Cup event, where we were able to share our club flag with them. At breakfast this Tuesday, we were presented with their flag by John Boscawen while they are touring the rest of New Zealand.
There is already a special pre-existing connection - in 1977 they hosted John's sister for six months.
Troy Churton, National Manager - Retirement Villages & Ageing Workforce at the Commission for Financial Capability, joined us for breakfast on Tuesday.
Troy provided excellent insights into the work of the Commission and key considerations in the retirement industry. Many thanks Troy for joining and sharing your expertise with us.
