All

An exciting week of activities which are highlighted in the stories section below.

Looking ahead: Everyone is getting geared up for Battle of the Suits. I know you all can't wait to see the debate and be part of one of the best events in Auckland in recent times.

It will be something to go down in the annals of club history, which people will still be talking about for years to come.

Yes, it is but one instalment of what we hope to be an annual event - but you want to get in on the ground floor. You want to say that you were there at the beginning. That you were part of it. That you lived to tell the tale.

And in the years to come, your friends will say 'Oh, I went to the most recent edition of Battle of the Suits. And you'll be able to say, oh that's nice, but I was there from Day One. I'm an original'.

So if you're panicking that you haven't registered yet, and that you're going to miss out on this historic moment, get in touch with Gill as we may be able to squeeze you in. Maybe.

If you are coming - and even if you're not - the auction items are up online now. So be sure to get your bids in and secure the objects of your desire, before you lose them to another punter.

Because you know, you'll want to take away that piece of history to prove that you were there when Battle of the Suits was born.

To bid online, follow Gill's instructions from her recent email, copied out below:

1. Text: Debate followed by your full name
2. To: 3840
3. Example: Debate John Smith
4. Follow the registration link you are sent from Galabid to login and place bids.

Live auction items are also listed and we have some goodies, so make sure you have a look and be ready to bid on the night. There will also be a raffle on the eve (and you can buy raffle tickets on Tuesday morning).

Don’t forget to pass on this important auction information to all the guests at your table! You can also pass this information on to any family, friends, colleagues who aren't attending but who may be interested in bidding. You can also share items on FaceBook or Twitter, using the icons on each item…….so feel free to spread the word!
Stories
Team Sky Tower Challenge
On Friday, Susan Benedek, Gareth Juddery, Christine Fenby and Byran Theunisen, joined forces to form team Downtown Riser Racing Rotarians to compete in the annual Step Up Challenge - the race to the top of Sky Tower - as a fundraiser for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Our team competed against some of New Zealand's biggest corporates, as well as a few gyms and crossfit teams. After 53 flights and 1,103 stairs, the team successfully summited the largest structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Not only was it awesome to get out and take on this physcial challenge, but it was also a good chance to mingle with the 400 other participants, all keen on supporting a great cause.

Thanks Susan for organising this for us - and thanks team for a great effort all around.

Young Ben's Surgery
Liz Thomson has been up at the Hospital supporting young Ben and mum Maling throughout Ben's open heart surgery which took place recently.

Ben is now back at Ronald McDonald House, and will have another six weeks in New Zealand to recuperate before returning to Vanuatu.

With Liz, we will tee up some times for members to head up there to spend time with Ben and Maling.

Thank you Liz for all that you've done so far in supporting Ben and Maling, and for being such a great ambassador for the club.

Auckland Transport & Auckland Council @ Breakfast
Great to have Shane Ellison, CEO at Auckland Transport, and Ludo Campbell-Reid Hon DINZ, Urban Design Champion at Auckland Council, at the club on Tuesday morning to talk about transport in Auckland.

Good to understand the growth trajectory for Auckland, how we stack up against other large cities globally, and the planned rollout of transport infrastructure.

Thanks guys, a great session - looking forward to the sequel.
