Rotaract Cultural Night
On Saturday night, President Elect Stuart Rowe and President Byran Theunisen joined club member and Auckland City Rotaract President Rumbie Muzawazi at the Rotaract club's cultural evening to celebrate their 15th birthday.

It was great to see so many Rotaractors, Rotarians (with 13 clubs represented) and friends and family.

We were also lucky to have many special guests with school and community performances, including kapa haka, cultural dances and fashion shows.

Congratulations to Rumbie and the whole Rotaract team for putting on such an amazing event.

Military History Night
In June 1944 Allied forces launched the biggest invasion fleet in history.
The outcome of the subsequent battle changed the entire course of the war against the Nazis and shaped the world we live in today. The lead up to the invasion was filled with secrecy, subterfuge and deception. The logistics of getting millions of men and their supplies onto a heavily defended beach were truly amazing. The battle itself involved heroism and sacrifice across many nations. Given its impact on world affairs the 75TH anniversary of “D Day” was marked by heads of state from around the world last year.

Downtown club member Simon Walton was there, at Normandy, to witness events and will be giving a presentation on the battle and his trip on Tuesday 24th March at the Rydges Hotel, 6pm - 9.30pm, as a fundraiser for Kiwi Harvest.

What is Kiwi Harvest? They are an organisation that works with food businesses, including supermarkets, wholesalers, producers, cafes, restaurants, and hotels, to rescue the good food that they are not able to sell – whether that is because of oversupply, damaged packaging, cancelled orders, mislabelling, or because the food is nearing its best before date or end of life. This food is then provided to families in need.

The cost of the dinner on 24 March at the Rydges is $65 and we would ideally like a $50 donation towards Kiwi Harvest. We’ll enjoy a 3 course dinner and glass of wine downstairs in a private part of the restaurant before adjourning upstairs to one of the conference rooms to hear Simon’s presentation.

Please share this with friends and family - we're sure that there will be many who will be interested in this great opportunity for some socialising as well as education - gaining a better insight into the events of June 1944 and the commemorations 75 years later. The more the better!

Those wishing to attend can email Keith Robinson on kgtrob@gmail.com to register.

Out on the farm
On Saturday, some more work was underway down on Greg Moyle's farm .

Greg was joined by President Byran along with two of Greg's friends for some fruit picking - peaches, avos and various others.

The fruit picked on the day will be on sale at the market and the club to raise funds for our Gardens in Schools program.

Thanks Greg for your continued support for this program - it is greatly appreciated.

Annah Stretton @ Breakfast
On Tuesday morning we were joined by Annah Stretton, fashion designer and founder of RAW - Reclaim Another Woman.

RAW was set up to help break New Zealand’s ever-growing cycle of intergenerational offending, educational underachievement, persistent poverty and violence for a group of disadvantaged women.

Annah spoke about the path that led her to the founding of RAW, the organisation's work and its long term goals.

It was great having Annah with us and hearing about her work in this area.
