Alwyn founded and academically manages Mt Hobson Middle School in Newmarket, Auckland. A private school for up to 50 children. 12:1 student:teacher ratio, project based curriculum, outstanding classroom teaching and an innovative day structure.

In 2018 he co-founded Innovative Education Consultants (IEC) https://www.innovativeeducation.co.nz/ to share the uniquely written Project Based Curriculum and other aspects of our model and how to arrange resourcing.

Alwyn is a Board member of the Villa Education Trust that has successfully established two of New Zealand's Partnership Schools - South Auckland Middle School (www.southauckland.school.nz) and Middle School West Auckland (www.westauckland.school.nz). Both schools are based on the MHMS model with a 15:1 student teacher ratio, split-day (Academic Morning and Arts/Activity Based afternoon), 60 student "Villas" and other aspects that simply make them work for young people!
