This week provided me with a couple of good reminders: 1) that you should never take good health for granted, and 2) how lucky we are to have members who support each other through thick and thin.
While I was sick in bed with the flu, Suzanne O’Leary and Gill Johnston did a fantastic job of showcasing our RYLArians and thanking our partner sponsors. I received several emails and calls from members saying how impressive and meaningful the presentations were.
Steve Briggs did a great job of recording key aspects of the day including individual speeches and Caroline Ash’s speech as the recipient of the Graeme Campbell Award for Best Rylarian. Click videos to watch.
Please send any stories and photos you may have regarding volunteer activities to me for the Noticeboard. It's always great to share what members are doing around the community.
Finally, next Tuesday is our SOLD-OUT Fundraising Breakfast. Thanks to all of you who bought tables for your colleagues and friends.
Downtown Auckland Rotary Club working alongside PWC, KPMG, Deloittes, Kotahi and ASB sent 19 young people to this years RYLA programme. Along with young people from their own companies, they also sponsored applicants from CureKids, World Vision, Ronald McDonald House, Leukemia & Blood Cancer, Auckland Girls Grammar School and the Graeme Dingle Foundation. Downtown member Pam Deal along with husband Alan were this years camp Mum and Dad. Caroline Ash was the recipient of the Graeme Campbell Scholarship, she receives $1000 to use towards further Leadership education.
