Another exciting week in the club. Let's get straight into the action - see the recap in the Stories section below.

Fashion Night
On Wednesday night, the Youth/AGGS Committee hosted a Fashion Night fundraiser at Repertoire, Takapuna.

Suzanne O'Leary and Heather Robinson put together a great evening in partnership with the Repertoire team. In attendance were several club members plus a range of other friends, family and supporters.

The evening was a great success, with $1,561 being raised for our Rotary Youth Programs and Auckland Girls Grammar partnership.

Stewart Imrie @ Breakfast
One of our newest club members, Stewart Imrie, provided us with some great insights into his background as our guest speaker on Tuesday morning.

Stewart shared his background starting out in the trades while pursuing cycling at the highest international levels, including racing against Lance Armstrong, before switching gears and building a career as a financial advisor. Great insights Stewart and stoked to have you as part of the club.

Below: Stewart was good enough to model in his 1990 Commonwealth Games Team New Zealand Cycling blazer.

Our Friends from Nevada
We were lucky to have friends join us for breakfast on Tuesday from the Rotary Club of Smith Valley in Nevada.

Barbara and Jon Brooks shared with us their story and provided some insights into what their club does. It was great to host them on their tour through NZ before returning home. Safe travels Barbara and Jon - you're welcome back anytime.

Welcome to our Friends from out South
We had the great pleasure of being joined by two friends from out South on Tuesday: Tania Thomas - President of the Rotary Club of Otahuhu, and Walter Hsueh - President of the Rotary Club of Auckland South.

Tania and Walter shared the details of their upcoming fundraiser - a Las Vegas Night Fundraiser on 10 November. One of the beneficiaries of the fundraising effort is a hydroponics project in Kiribati, which is great as Kiribati is one of the newest members of the Rotary family. Great stuff Tania and Walter.

Last few days before the Ride to end Polio
As we head into the final few days before the Ride to End Polio, the key details are highlighted again.

Districts 9920 and 9910 (which combined cover nearly 100 clubs)  are collaborating to hold an event 'Polio All Trains' on the Auckland Transport Network on Friday 1 November. This is based on the All Stations event held in Sydney in 2018 when $250,000 was raised for End Polio. (The photo below is from that Sydney event.)

For the event, a team - dressed in red End Polio apparel - will ride the Auckland Transport Train Network and at each station visited there will be a local Rotary Club (also dressed in red End Polio apparel) who will symbolically hand over a cheque for the End Polio Campaign to the Polio Team riding the trains.

Auckland Transport have given permission for us to undertake this event and to collect donations from passengers travelling on the trains and at the stations. There will be a timetable of when the train with the Polio Riders will arrive at each club’s designated station. Rotarian 'Riders' can ride free on the network as long as they are wearing a red End Polio Shirt. It is suggested that each Rotarian 'Rider' arranges sponsorship from friends and families to raise money whilst they ride the trains e.g. $1 per station.

John Boscawen has helped the organisers arrange for David Seymour to attend to help raise the profile of the event - David has also written to the leaders of the other parties to encourage them to engage as well.

If you're keen on getting involved get in touch with John. (Timetable for our club 'station' to follow.)
